Jess’s Cottage is a traditional village property, beautifully renovated and refurbished.The sitting-room is really spacious, a mix of historic character and lovely new furnishings.The very well-equipped kitchen looks out to the front of the cottage.
 
The master bedroom (Bedroom 1) is huge, with rich rugs over oak floors and beautiful lighting.The kitchen and dining areas are cleverly separated within this open plan space.Another view of the sitting-room – the stairs to the first floor are on the right and the doorway to the kitchen on the left.

The back door opens to a little flight of steps up to the enclosed garden.The dining-area has a lovely little pew adding even more character.There is a wood-burner in the original stone fireplace.
 
The restored feature fireplace is an attractive feature in this lovely bedroom.The bedrooms do have the original  low windowsills so please do take care with children.There are special touches throughout this gorgeous cottage.

The upstairs landing has room for a wardrobe and chest of drawers.The garden is completely enclosed – a private and peaceful place to sit and relax.The cottage is tucked away up a little lane - a peaceful setting in this pretty village.
 
This is the little no through lane that leads past the cottage and where you can park (take care to allow access).You will feel completely at home in Jess's Cottage.There is a lovely square at the heart of Chittlehampton, free parking and a popular pub (free WiFi).
 
The ancient church path onto the square.The church is well worth a visit – the bells ring on Tuesdays and Sunday mornings – a real taste of village life.North Devon’s spectacular sandy beaches are within easy reach. This is the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Braunton Burrows.
 
There are miles of coastal walks,  as well as the countryside walks on your doorstep.The pretty villages of Appledore and Instow face each other across the estuary – this is Appledore. 
 

This Grade II Listed traditional thatched cottage is a perfect base for exploring north Devon's fabulous sandy beaches, Exmoor National Park and the rugged coastline into Cornwall. Detached Jess's Cottage is friendly and welcoming – you may simply want to stay put, making the most of the enclosed sheltered garden and the lovely summer-house! The interior of this real home-from-home celebrates the character of the cottage, including some low beams and lintels, steps into some of the rooms and low window sills in the bedrooms. Jess's Cottage is situated in the heart of the village of Chittlehampton where there is a popular local pub for good food, the Bell Inn, and a shop within strolling distance of the cottage, and excellent walking countryside all around. Nearby South Molton is renowned for its farmers' markets and fabulous local produce, as well as some tempting independent shops for those holiday treats. One of the best ways to explore this region is on the picturesque Tarka Line, which integrates scenic train rides with a choice of well planned walks from different stops along the way.
