The Tamar Valley is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Cornwall and West Devon Mining Landscape was inscribed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2006. Bakers Row Cottage, one of a terrace of four former miners’ cottages, is in the hamlet of North Dimson up above Gunnislake and the River Tamar. With its own front garden, the Owners, who live next door and run a smallholding away from the cottage, have furnished the cottage with all the comforts of home, including a wood-burner. The kitchen and bathroom are on the ground floor and the steep stairs (take care with toddlers or the elderly) lead up to the bedrooms. The Tamar Valley is well suited to activities such as riding or cycling, and there are many walks and historic sites to visit. Bakers Row Cottage is the cosiest of Cornish retreats whatever the season.
