Cross open moorland with tors rising in the distance and down a narrow tree-lined road to find Brook Coach House, originally a late 1800s barn, in the tiny hamlet of Brook within the Dartmoor National Park. Converted by the neighbouring Owner, this is a very stylish home. A useful hall/study leads to the spacious open plan sitting/dining-room which is full of light, as it has floor to ceiling windows on both sides. The flooring is oak and an inglenook fireplace with a wood-burner is framed by deep chestnut leather sofas with the dining-table at the other end. The galley kitchen is again very light with two steps up to French doors opening out to flower-filled shrub beds and a slate patio running along the front of the cottage. Upstairs are the pine-floored, attractive bedrooms and a particularly stunning bathroom. The twin bedroom also has a little dressing-room with limited headroom. Tavistock is close and has a busy pannier market most days, as well as good restaurants and shops. For anyone who loves Dartmoor, this is the ideal cottage – warm and welcoming with open moorland within a third of a mile.
