Close to the village of Aveton Gifford, a small country lane leads to Waterhead Cottage, the first in a terrace of three. This unusual cottage is on three floors with steep stairs to the first floor and even steeper, companionway-style steps to the top floor. The open plan living-room has a wood-burner and French windows overlooking the patio and garden, which is bordered on two sides by a tidal tributary of the nearby river (please take care with children). A wooden bridge leads out to waterside meadows – a lovely walk on a summer’s evening with the Fisherman’s Rest pub an adventurous half-mile stroll along the riverbank. This is a haven of peace and quiet with only one or two neighbours (the neighbours have a seldom-used right of way across the garden) – the Owners live across the lane but often travel overseas. Please note, the cottage is not suitable for small children and the television and mobile reception is non-existent, although a DVD player is provided.
