Torquay, a popular resort with tourists, is a vibrant town and famous for its motto ‘Health and Happiness’. The seaside setting of Hesketh Dell, the end house of a Grade II Listed Regency crescent, is unique in style and location. Built by the Harvey brothers in 1848, this architectural delight is quite stunning and is considered to be the jewel in Torquay’s crown. Once owned by notable Victorian families, Hesketh Crescent maintains its grand status; as you drive down through the Crescent, the beautiful curve of these terraced houses and apartments reaches down towards Meadfoot beach and looks out across the bay to Thatcher Rock. Found through large wrought iron gates at the end of the Crescent (Hesketh Dell is behind the last visible property in the Crescent on the right in the photograph), this stunning property certainly boasts the most exclusive of positions. Set in its own enclosed, terraced grounds, meandering paths lead through the trees to raised secret patios and guests have direct access to the Devon coastal path. Children will love the gardens and in cases of inclement weather, the large Victorian conservatory will allow the games to continue. An elegant hallway leads to the beautifully furnished sitting-room, a perfect place for adults to rest and enjoy the glow from the ‘living-flame’ gas fire. The dining-room is close to the kitchen and provides access to the two lower ground floor bedrooms. Upstairs, the grand main staircase leads to the remainder of the bedrooms, two of which boast uninterrupted sea views across to the bay. To add an extra bonus to your holiday, the Owner can offer catering (with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice) and can even organise a drive to take you out to see the sights (again 48 hours’ notice is required).
