Pengelly Manor
1359 is no longer with usIf you were looking for cottages like Pengelly Manor, how about trying these:
Pengelly Manor, a lovely old manor house dating back to the early 1700s, is a hidden gem tucked away in a beautiful rural location. Redolent of country living at its most stylish, the drawing-room and sitting-room are both elegantly furnished and very comfortable. Steps lead to the impressive snooker-room with the original slate floors, which extend into the hall, kitchen and dining-room. More steps (there are several throughout the house and one or two low lintels) go down to the large country-style kitchen with a warming Aga (the main cooking appliance although a combination microwave is provided). Two wood-burners (in the sitting-room and in the snooker-room) enhance the comfortable atmosphere. There is a separate dining-room and the bedrooms are charming, with bedroom three leading into bedroom four, whilst the master bedroom boasts a four-poster bed. Outside are large attractive gardens (take care with children around the three ponds) and a paved terrace with views to the nearby moors, an ideal spot for a summer barbecue. Close to Launceston, once the county capital, the house is ideally situated for exploring both Cornwall and Devon. Dartmoor is close, as is Bodmin Moor, the Eden Project is just over half an hour’s drive and both Cornwall coasts are within striking distance. Why not investigate those restaurants you keep reading about, or try your hand at surfing on the north coast? Maybe wander through the old estuary town of Fowey and take the ferry across to Polruan for lunch, calling in at Polperro or Looe to pick up some fresh fish on the way home? Pengelly Manor is a magical house in a magical place.
