Over the narrow bridge spanning the River Teign is the pretty village of Shaldon. Just outside the village and alongside the estuary is a No Through Road with seven properties, including this delightful, terraced, early 18th Century cottage. With a waterfront garden across the lane and a patio and raised walled garden at the back (please take care with toddlers), there are plenty of places to relax. There is also a sunny conservatory with views of the estuary. Inside, the sitting-room has comfortable sofas and chairs with a step up to a raised area looking out to the back garden and the well-equipped kitchen has cream units and black granite worktops. Upstairs are three pretty bedrooms, two with sea views, but take care with one or two low lintels, particularly in the en suite shower-room. Shaldon itself has several shops and pubs, restaurants and a regular ferry service to Teignmouth. The South Hams is on the doorstep and Dartmoor is less than an hour’s drive away.
