Hale Farm
Sleeps 14 + 3 cots in 3 properties | 2.3 miles SE of Port Isaac
Hale Farm is a cornucopia of delights. Near pretty Port Isaac, this group of mid-19th Century stone buildings, comprising the Owners’ home, St Kew Pottery studio and three cottages, forms an ideal base for picture perfect holidays. Creativity abounds here and guests may be inspired to draw, paint or take up ceramics. The Owner is a potter who has built an oak barn in which to work, so has transformed his single-storey detached studio into Pottery Cottage. Across the courtyard, adjoining the Owners’ home, is The Granary, a spacious and private reversed level barn conversion, while beyond the Owners’ farmhouse is The Carriage House. The properties are managed with concern for the environment and have been awarded a Green Tourism Business Scheme Silver award. Each property has been cleverly designed to face away from the others, maximising privacy and space. Natural materials are used throughout – Delabole slate and oak floors complement the original artwork and lovely landscaping. Wireless broadband is available and free art and pottery lessons are offered between November and April during term times. The farm is a wildlife haven, approached by a private drive with ample parking. Guests can use the Owners’ land but note that a small stream (please take care with toddlers) borders the fields. St Endellion, with its music festivals, is nearby as are the beaches of Polzeath and Trebarwith. The north coast is at hand and provides excitement – surfing, canoeing or cycling – and inspiration for guests, who can return to a welcoming, stylish base every day.
