If you were looking for cottages like The Cabin at Wrinklers Wood, how about trying these:

So nearly a treehouse but so much more, The Cabin at Wrinklers Wood is tucked into a beautiful sheltered hillside setting, perched up high and lulled by the sound of rustling leaves and melodious birdsong. Approached along a sloping tree-lined lane this unexpectedly spacious hideaway has an open plan living-room with bespoke hand-built furniture and quirky linens mixed with inspired touches of comfort and luxury.

Built atop tall stilts, a wraparound deck provides wonderfully private outdoor space where table and chairs are set before a timber balustrade. From here you look down on a woodland glade where a bubbling stream borders the lawn and a nature pond, fringed with reeds and majestic gunnera manicata, hums with elusive, darting dragonflies in summer.

This is an idyllic location for those who want to get away from the stresses of everyday life, off the beaten track but just a mile from the pretty hamlet of Mithian – complete with ancient pub – and just a couple more from the bustling coastal village of St Agnes, renowned for surfing, spectacular cliff and coast path walks, and a foodie heaven.

The Cabin has a super comfortable double bed with bespoke reclaimed timber headboard, goose down duvet and lovely linens. There is a television with integral DVD player, a wood-burner effect electric stove (plus electric radiator, ensuring total cosiness) and a dining-table and chairs set before floor to ceiling windows looking out over the deck to tree tops beyond.

The kitchen-area has hand-built units, a little electric cooker and a fridge with freezer compartment (so you can have ice cubes for that evening G&T). The shower-room has timber-flooring and a heated towel rail. The welcoming Owners live across the garden and are happy to greet you and show you around but then leave you to unwind and relax in private.

Wrinklers Wood is found at the end of a long (and in places narrow and bumpy) track, so arrival is the start of your adventure (best not bring the Ferrari!). Cars are parked off the lane in a dedicated parking-area and a track winds down through the trees to the cabin.

There are superb sandy surfing beaches all around, with Chapel Porth, Porthtowan and Perranporth all within five miles. They have beachside bars, wonderful cafes and spectacular views all through the year, from stunning sunsets in summer to crashing storm-tossed waves in winter. The owner can even offer yoga/mindfulness sessions and beauty treatments too - what better way to fully relax and embrace the holiday spirit!
