Portreath’s fabulous beach is great for families – for surfers, sunbathers and sandcastle-builders alike! And so is High Ayshe (pronounced ‘Aish’, Cornish for ‘spirit’), set up on the hillside away from the centre of this popular seaside village but still only a short walk from its shops, pubs, restaurants, little harbour, and small inner beach and tidal pool which is ideal for younger children. Enjoying fantastic views across the village to the beach, south-facing High Ayshe stands at the end of a long descending driveway, the footpath alongside it a handy shortcut down to the beach. The house has a sloping back lawn and a sunny front terrace, covered fishpond and a low wall beyond which the ground slopes steeply downhill (please take care with children). The uninterrupted views are spectacular, making the terrace the perfect spot to sit and watch the goings on below. Inside, the dining-room table by the patio doors is also ideal for lingering over meals and taking in the scenery, whatever the weather. There is wireless broadband, the kitchen has a small but ingenious flip-down television for the busy cook, and the adjacent utility-room is useful for storing beach gear. The large, comfortable sitting-room leads to the downstairs bedrooms, and upstairs are three further bedrooms, the spacious en suite master with especially stunning sea views.
