Kestle Barton

Sleeps 16 + 2 cots in 3 properties | Helford

Kestle Barton barns (and gallery, left) viewed from the gallery's lovely sculpture garden.

Originally an ancient Cornish farmstead, set down a country lane near the spectacular Helford River, Kestle Barton has been transformed into three outstanding cottages and a small art gallery with a landscaped sculpture garden featuring local artists’ work (open Easter to end October). The former barns have been sympathetically converted following conservation principles, incorporating sustainable materials and eco-friendly under-floor heating systems fuelled by locally-sourced woodchip. Adjoining the gallery is Kestle Howthere, a two-storey apartment occasionally also used by visiting artists. Beyond is semi-detached Kestle Mowhay with its enclosed private garden and space for ball-games in the neighbouring fields. Extremely spacious and finished to an exceptional standard including contemporary wood-burners and wireless broadband, these two stunning properties are a perfect base for exploring the Helford River’s myriad creeks, secluded beaches, and beautiful wooded valley. Opposite the art gallery lies Kestle Barton Farmhouse, half of the original farmstead’s L-shaped main dwelling.
