Arguably one of Somerset’s prettiest villages, Halse is a delightful little community nestling in rural tranquility between spectacular Exmoor and the Quantocks, just two miles from Bishops Lydeard’s West Somerset Railway Station. Take a steam train to Minehead, wander along local footpaths, or explore further afield – the choice is yours! At the edge of the village, within strolling distance of the pub, Knights Barton is a spacious sandstone cottage built next to the former site of a Knights Hospitaler’s nunnery, standing across from the Owners’ home overlooking their private outdoor sandschool and surrounding fields. This exceedingly comfortable cottage has under-floor heating downstairs, the sitting-room’s welcoming wood-burner making it the cosiest of year-round retreats. The conservatory’s dining-table, facing the pretty, sunny courtyard and the countryside beyond, is ideal for leisurely meals whatever the weather. The large kitchen is fitted to a high standard with country cupboards and granite worktops, the Aga providing additional heating and cooking facilities from October to end-May.
