Once upon a time The Magazine was the dynamite store for the Lamorna quarry; it is now a cosy clifftop retreat. There are stunning views from this detached cottage, set into the side of the cliff leading down to Lamorna harbour. The steep 20 yard uphill walk from the private parking space is well worth the effort to reach the path to the cottage. A stable-door gives access to the kitchen, which opens into the traditional living area and conservatory. A spiral staircase leads to the bathroom and two bedrooms, one with a balcony with fabulous views – an ideal place to enjoy a morning cuppa. Outside, the garden and upper terrace have large decked areas overlooking the cove.
There are superlative views from just about every corner, with the decking areas the perfect vantage point for watching the tides and shipping lanes – during the summer you can set your watches to the Scillonian as it makes its daily sailing from Penzance to the Isles of Scilly. With the renowned Lamorna Wink pub just a stroll away up the hill (take a torch with you at night!) you may not feel the need to move very far from The Magazine all week; but if you do choose venture out and about, there is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area.
