Retaining much of the original character, now stylishly refurbished, this 17th Century Grade II Listed cottage is in the village of St Kew Highway. As well as being close to the north coast, the harbour town of Padstow and the surfing beach at Polzeath, there is easy access to coastal walks, cycling the Camel Trail and many of Cornwall’s attractions. Inside Filkins Cottage, the cosy sitting-room has an open fire, there are slate floors (with a little step) and painted cupboards in the kitchen and the lovely bathroom has a three-quarter size bath. Steep stairs lead to the bedrooms which have the original wide floorboards, and are furnished with pretty linens. Tall guests beware as there are low lintels and doors! This cottage is ideal for four guests but there is an extra bed in one bedroom which means an additional child can be accommodated. The village shops are just down the road and the St Kew Inn, renowned for good food, is a mile away.
