The Merry Maiden, a detached, reversed level barn conversion is, as the name suggests, close to the Merry Maidens – a ring of 19 stones, each supposedly a maiden turned to stone for dancing on the Sabbath. With views towards the stones from the spacious first floor balcony, and use of the Owner’s on site private lakes (see photograph, please take care with children) – where an otter or kingfisher may be glimpsed – what more could you wish for? Steep granite steps lead up from the enclosed garden to the first floor entrance and the open plan living-room. From here stairs descend to the two bedrooms, one double and a twin. The bathroom is also on the ground floor. Your only neighbours in this idyllic setting are Chy-Byghan (1854) and one other cottage. The grounds are extensive, walks aplenty, and peace and quiet abundant. A short drive leads to unique Porthcurno beach and Sennen Cove, and the Lamorna Valley is a mere amble across the fields. Perhaps you could solve the mystery of the maidens!
