Nestled amongst the picturesque houses on Falmouth’s waterfront, this ground floor apartment (at quay level, below the white painted walkway in the photograph) is a hidden gem. Set behind a big blue door down a flight of twenty steps from the High Street, it is difficult to imagine you are only a stone’s throw away from the hustle and bustle of the fine selection of pubs, shops and restaurants Falmouth has to offer. Once inside the unexpectedly peaceful garden, another flight of steps leads down to Quayside, where the open plan living accommodation provides a very well-equipped kitchen-area with a glass dining-table and leather chairs. The sitting-area is stylishly furnished with 20th Century design classics, including a Mies van der Rohe ‘Barcelona’ sofa and chairs, Eileen Gray side table and Tribeca coffee table. French windows open onto the slipway, where a stepped quay (with no barricade so please take care) provides seating at the water’s edge. The added luxury of a heated, indoor swimming pool and sauna (available until 7pm daily all year round, but please supervise children at all times around the pool) housed in a glass-walled pool-house alongside the ever-changing waterside panorama offers the ultimate in relaxation. Guests may use the floating pontoon to moor canoes, suitable dinghies and small yachts (which can be hired locally), subject to the state of the tides.
