With rolling fields, wooded valleys and the River Lynher (approached down a steep slope close by) meandering its way to the sea, this is some of the most beautiful, secluded countryside in Cornwall (see photograph). These spacious reversed level barn conversions are believed to date back in part to the 16th Century. The Owners, across the lane, farm sheep and guests are welcome to walk the land (take care around livestock and with children near the river and the two wildlife ponds). A haven for wildlife, there are kingfishers, buzzards and a species of rare orchid on the farm. Looe, with its golden sandy beaches, as well as some spectacular coastal cliff walks are within a few miles, the Eden Project only an hour’s drive and there are several National Trust properties in the area. Each cottage has a patio and there is a children’s play centre with swings, slide and climbing bars. The properties have a private water supply, tested regularly.

There is a children's play area and a trampoline, shared with Orchard Lodge (1593). Children must be supervised by an adult at all times.

Chestnut Lodge is next door to Orchard Lodge and during the conversion several old archways, now windows, were discovered which suggest it might once have been a chapel. This belief was supported by the discovery of some etchings upstairs, thought to have been drawn by 16th Century monks. Now covered for preservation, they can be viewed through a small wall hatch. Again, every comfort is provided, making this a very welcoming cottage. Please note that the changeover times are 4pm on arrival and 10am on departure.
