The Old School House is a picture-book thatched cottage at the heart of the beautiful conservation hamlet of Ibberton. The Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Bulbarrow Hill, with breathtaking views, provides the backdrop for this peaceful rural setting, whilst the wonderful beaches of Studland and Durdle Door can be reached by following a scenic country route. The whole area is steeped in history, with the Iron Age fort of Hambledon and Hod Hills nearby and the Georgian town of Blandford Forum just a short drive. However the surroundings are so picturesque, with a network of local footpaths and countryside walks on the doorstep, that you may decide to leave the car in the garage and explore on foot. The cottage is all on one level and has its own unique history, having once been the village school. There is an open fire, ideal for winter breaks, and a very private, enclosed sheltered garden with a little stream running along the boundary – please take care with children. As for your holiday reading, the international bestseller – Mr Rosenblum’s List – features this very cottage and will certainly set the scene for your holiday.
