Set on a hill outside Colyton, in fabulous walking country, Sceat Cottage enjoys panoramic views of the Axe valley. This contemporary, semi-detached cottage is set in a row of three and is approached by a sloping brick path through the lawn. The cottage has an open plan kitchen/diner and three steps leading up to the sitting-room, where French windows open onto the patio. Also on the ground floor is a shower-room, a double bedroom and a cosy ‘snug’ with sofas and a roaring wood-burner. On the first floor is a family bathroom and three further bedrooms, one en suite. An enclosed rear gravelled terrace is perfect for children or to relax on after a day visiting nearby historic towns such as Lyme Regis or Honiton or the fabulous Jurassic coastline and beaches at Charmouth and Beer. For those with a culinary interest, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage is a short drive away and there is also his local produce store and canteen in Axminster. There are three excellent golf courses within easy distance as well as the National Trust’s Shute Barton (limited opening), just down the road.
