Cornish Christmas gifts

Planning to celebrate Christmas in Cornwall this year? Lucky you! Here are some gifts from some of our favourite Cornish makers, crafters and producers to spread the festive cheer Kernow style to your nearest and dearest.

Christmas shopping

We love to support local businesses, just like these:

1. A snuggly jumper

Is there anything better than wrapping up in a snuggly jumper during winter? Throw in a roaring log fire, a glass of something tasty and a good book and we don’t think so! Luckily, Cornwall is home to several different clothing brands with something for everyone. We love Seasalt Clothing for boat neck beauties and stylish kegs that remind us of the sea. Finisterre do a great job of making clothing to fight the elements whilst maintaining sustainable practices, with lambswool crew necks perfect for staving off winter chills or off shore breezes. There's no need to leave the kids out thanks to Frugi – we can’t get enough of there animal prints, and practical, bright clothing.

2. A delicious treat

If there is one thing Cornwall has down to a tee, it’s food; the county boasts plenty of award-winning producers. Cheese lovers will appreciate a truckle of nettle wrapped  Yarg, it’s just the ticket for a festive cheese board. Why not send a box load of Cornish pasties to your favourites? Chough Bakery –winner of the Cornish Pasty World Champions 2016 – is just the bakery for the job. Got a sweet tooth? Send them a bar of something delicious from Kernow Chocolate, Cornwall’s answer to Willy Wonka. Need a present for a pup? The Cornish Barkery has got you covered. From pupcakes and cheese biscuits to stockings stuffed with doggy goodies, Rover will be one happy hound this Christmas.

3. A tasty tipple

Gifting grown-ups? You can’t go far wrong with a bottle of something fancy. Gin lovers will go mad for a bottle of Tarquin’s Gin - handpicked violets and fresh orange zest make this dry gin something truly special. Make someone’s Christmas Day sparkle with a bottle of 2014 Seyval Blanc Sparkling White from Polgoon. Grown, pressed and bottled at Polgoon Vineyard, you can’t get much more Cornish than that. Or for something totally different with a wonderful festive novelty factor, why not spread the Christmas cheer with a bottle of Kalkar, a Cornish rum and coffee spirit. This newcomer has already won a gold star Great Taste Award.

4. A bath time upgrade

Know someone in need of a long soak and chill out session? Upgrade their bath time with a gorgeous Aromatherapy Bath Oil from Bloom Remedies. The serenity slumber option is perfect for sleep deprived souls. Afterwards what could be better than slathering on some Restorative Body Balm from Spiezia Organics? Rich in rosehip oil it promises to feed the skin and bring the body and mind into balance. Now who couldn’t do with some of that? And, of course, for a bath to be truly luxurious it needs to be candlelit. Enter: The Cornish Candle Company. Hand blended in Cornwall, we’re all about the limited edition Winter Wonderland blend which mixes citrus with cinnamon and a hint of musk. Divine.

5. A magical mini break

If you really want to make someone’s Christmas why not book them a mini break in Cornwall? From a sweet detached cottage with a hot tub to a rural bolthole complete with roaring log fire. If you can't afford a whole holiday, you can order a Gift Voucher package for any amount - go on, give the gift of a holiday.
