Things to do in February Half Term in Dorset

The nights are starting to get lighter and we’re all starting to feel a little spring in our step. Before you know it, it’ll be time to start planning your next stay in a holiday cottage and February Half Term will be upon us. With plenty going on in the county this February, Dorset is the ideal place to stay to make the most of your Half Term break.

Whether you’re planning on taking the whole week away or opting for a short break, there’s lots to keep little ones busy. Dorset is a great county for kids: from the Jurassic coastline to the many museums, you have options come rain or shine for things to do.

Dorset is famous for it’s Jurassic coastline so keep your future palaeontologist entertained with a dinosaur hunt at the Dinosaur Museum, whatever the weather this is a great option for kids. Or head out to the beaches and try out some year round beach activities like rockpooling or searching for fossils.

We all know the National Trust are fantastic at catering to children. They have plenty planned for visitors to their locations across Dorset. Kingston Lacy has an outdoor family trail for you so don’t forget those woolly hats and gloves to keep chilly heads and hands warm. The Corfe Castle and Studland bay teams have a huge selection of things to do so there’s plenty to keep you busy all day.

Whatever the weather, here are some options for things to do throughout half term (and a little bit after).

The Great Half Term Dinosaur hunt

Sampling the River Cottage Food Festival

Itʼs not what you would call a ʻhugeʼ festival, but itʼs all the more special because of that. If anything it feels like a huge family garden party, if only I had that garden!
