With October’s crisp mornings and crunchy leaves, this month is the ideal time to go for a ramble across Exmoor. If the weather turns there are still plenty of things to do across Devon. Taste some classic Devonshire produce at Powderham food festival, see a Russian Tall Ship up close and personal or scare yourself silly at one of the many Halloween events this half term.
First week of October
Covering everything from habitats and biodiversity to astrophysics, anyone with even a slight interest in science will enjoy a day out at the science festival.
Have a laugh while enjoying the scenery of Sandy Park.
Wherever you look you'll find a brilliant selection of local food and drink to taste, try and buy to take home.
Second Week of October
Held on the second Wednesday of October each year, this is an autumnal extravaganza of fairground rides, goose farmers and local producers.
Third week of October
Get into the Autumn spirit at Killerton for campfire cooking, arts and crafts and village fete games.
Final week of October
If you’re looking for something to do over half term the Fun By Day Festival is great for all the family to enjoy Halloween without the scary stories.
There are plenty of activities to keep the whole family spooked throughout half term week at Pennywell Farm.
Bring a bag of apples and watch them being pressed outside the Visitor Centre. You can also learn how to make apple art, go apple bobbing and head out on a harvest treasure hunt.
If a vampire costume isn’t for you this Halloween, check out the magical spectacular at The Milky Way Adventure Park.
Experience all this and more during your stay in Devon this October.
