November events in Devon

November brings the cooler weather and cosy evenings by the fire but the chill is no reason to stay in. Here are some of my favourite events in Devon this month.

November marks the real start of winter for me. The fireworks, cosy hot chocolates and plenty of Christmas shopping make this month one of my favourites. Bonfire night falls on a Saturday this year so I'll definitely be making a weekend of it trying to see as many displays as I can. The build up to Christmas starts here too. Halloween is all done so I'm looking for more celebrations. Christmas markets get me in the festive spirit as do Christmas light switch ons. Any excuse to have a cheeky hot toddy to warm up in the chilly evening air.

Although the weather's getting cooler, there's still plenty to do outdoors. A lovely winter walk on a Sunday morning gets the blood pumping and makes me feel all festive when I see the frost on the fields. A little dip in the sea is another great way to continue enjoying the great outdoors in the winter, just don't forget a thick wetsuit to keep you warm.

These are my top picks of November events (apart from the fireworks) in Devon:

2nd November: All Souls Day at Sharpham Meadow Natural Burial Ground

2nd November: Michaelmas Fair

4th November: Flaming Tar Barrels of Ottery St Mary

10th to 12th November: Ilfracombe Blues, Rhythm and Rock festival

19th November: Totnes Good Food Sunday Market

25th November: Dartmouth Artisan Market

24th to 25th November: Candlelit Dartmouth Festival

26th November: Winter Steam Day at Coldharbour Mill

Plan a stay in a Devon holiday cottage and make the most of the county's November events.

The best places through Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset to hold a special occasion with friends and family. We're thinking wedding party venues, but any special occasion is worthy of such a location.
