Things to do

May events in Cornwall

From flora day to polo on the beach, Cornwall has plenty to offer it's visitors this May. You'll be spoilt for choice for things to do. Festival season begins and weekends are suddenly filled with live music and craft ales (hopefully) aided by the sun shining down. It seems like everyone comes out to play once the sunshine appears.

Crisp spring days of early May are perfect for strolls in the woods, picnics and visits to your favourite towns. The warmth of late May means the beach is the only place to be, especially during half term with the kids. But elsewhere in the county, there are tons of festivals to discover; the St Ives food and drink festival is a good one to sink your teeth into or head for Fal River festival to keep all the family entertained.

Make the most of your May and explore the finest events Cornwall has to offer.

Two bank holidays this month give you extra days to enjoy some fun and frolicks with friends and family. Come away for a short weekend away and catch up with those you don't see very often. Crack open a bottle of wine and chat like you've never been away. Now is the time when friendships are rekindled and summer jaunts together can be planned.

An American in Cornwall: The Minack in the rain

It began to rain, and then it began to pour. The wind started gusting. Backdrops blew over and props flew away. The players had to grip their costumes to themselves and shout to be heard over the whistle of wind in their mics. But there can be no better place in the world to experience Shakespeare.
