A county famed for its gardens, there’s no excuses for not getting out into the Somerset sunshine on your June holiday. From Father’s Day to the Glastonbury Fringe, you’ll find events across the county to fill up your break. If you’re only staying for the weekend, pop along to the West Somerset Railway for a cream tea special or step back in time at Dunster Castle’s Civil War weekend.
June is the perfect month to pack your bags and get away from it all. As there’s no school holidays this month, most attractions are quiet meaning that you can see and do all the things that you planned. Beat the summer crowds while still enjoying the summer weather. Good weather makes for plenty of walks throughout the county; Exmoor, the Mendips and the Quantocks are all lovely to explore for a day out or over a couple of days. You might be surprised by how much the landscape changes across these Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Treat your dad to a drive of his favourite motor at Haynes Motor Museum on Father’s Day. For something a little different, stay near the Quantocks and spend the weekend walking or cycling. At some points on a clear day you can see from Minehead across to Bristol if you look hard enough, a breath taking view to take in while you eat lunch or just sit and chat as a break from your energetic adventure.
Our collection of Somerset holiday cottages are great for a holiday at any time of year.
