Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta 2014

2014 is a big (or should we say tall) year for Falmouth Regatta with a joint celebration connecting the Cornish harbour town with London. Tall Ships 2014 looks set to be the best ever... From 28th August 2014, over 30 of the world's finest lofty vessels will be filling Falmouth harbour for three days, before setting sail on

31st August in the race to reach Royal Greenwich London. But they're not just there to look impressive before the race - you can experience them for yourself during their three day prep. The particularly large ships will be docked at Queen's Wharf and free to wander aboard at your leisure. The smaller, but still impressive craft can be viewed from the Maritime Museum walkway or Events Square at the Port Pendennis Marina. If that's not enough for you, one of the ships, Dutch tall ship Mercedes, is offering day sailing, but these are booking up fast.

The tall ship dwarfs other water craft

All the ships are within walking distance of the town centre so are a must-see for anyone staying in a Falmouth cottage. There will also be plenty of events, activities and fun things to do, all relating to the maritime magic, to entertain over the three day period. It's a popular and quite spectacular event, even if you're not a sailing enthusiast - the kids can play pirates whilst the adults enjoy the atmosphere and fine food stalls. The Falmouth Tall Ships Regatta 2014 is not one to miss.
