December events in Somerset

December is finally upon us and if you're planning on heading to Somerset this month there's plenty going on to keep you busy.

As the Christmas lights go up and all the shops begin stocking mince pies again, it’s all getting a little festive now that December is on its way. Somerset has this month all wrapped up with festivals of light, santa visits and plenty of sherry and mince pies. Don't forget to catch the last of the Christmas markets too. If you fancy something a little different to the usual festivities, there’s a murder mystery event on the West Somerset Railway or a lovely evening dinner with chef Ian Bates at The Cross at Croscombe.

If you’re staying in a holiday cottage, make the most of the self catering option by trying out some recipes for Christmas day or attempt a spot of Christmas baking to keep the kids entertained.

Enjoy the best of Somerset this December with these events:

Throughout December: Festival of Light at Longleat
