We love where we live and so we looked high and low across the counties to unearth a few special like-minded pioneers such as the Forkan boys, who demonstrate a love for their area and inspire adventure. These boys encapsulate a little bit of what it's like on the south coast of Cornwall. And they've an awe-inspiring journey to share.
Because a holiday is more than just the place where you lay your head for the night, we've dug under the skin of each area so you can fully immerse yourself in what the South West is all about, see the sights, hear the sounds and fall in love with the local way of life.
And so we introduce...
‘Life can be what you choose to make of it, but we now live by a simple rule - Explore & Inspire’. Philanthropic brand Gandys has chosen the south coast of Cornwall as the best place to launch their first shop.
Rob, Paul and their younger brother and sister lost their parents whilst living in Sri Lanka when the Boxing Day tsunami of 2004 hit. But they’ve turned tragedy into something special, a business selling flip flops that funds their Orphans for Orphans initiative, supporting underprivileged children around the world.
‘Fowey felt like the perfect place for Gandys because the people are so lovely, we’re right by the beach and we have some really cool scenery to wake up to every morning.’
‘Before we came to Cornwall, we weren’t used to seeing people wearing our products on a day to day basis. Now we are waking up to lots of people wearing Gandys. It’s amazing to see that everyone is loving our new designs and it’s really going to help us to be able to build our second children’s home at the end of the year.’
‘Our unique designs represent our Bohemian upbringing travelling the world. Being right by the beach gives us time to reflect on new designs which are inspired by travel and being in Cornwall feels like we could be abroad. It’s a different world this far west and one we are proud to now be a part of.’
Their awe-inspiring story is starting a new Cornish chapter, taking inspiration from the shores of the south coast.
