The time of year when doggy restrictions come into play is from Easter to October, when only a limited number of beaches continue to allow dogs between 8am and 7pm. This can be disappointing for many dog owners but fear not, there are still a number of beautiful beaches available to everyone. We’ve compiled the top 5 dog friendly beaches for Dorset, so that wherever your holiday takes you, your four-legged friend can come too.
Steamer Point, Christchurch
Steamer Point combines the best of woodland and coastline, and allows dogs year-round on the lovely stretch between Friars Cliff to Highcliffe.
Although the main beaches restrict dogs, the stretches to the west of Sandbanks promenade and on the eastern side of Branksome Chine welcomes dogs year-round.
Chesil Beach, Weymouth
Chesil Beach comprises 17 wonderful miles, so there is plenty of space for you to enjoy with your dog.
Bowleaze Cove, Preston
One of the most dog-friendly beaches in the area, this is a great place to explore with your furry friend.
Durdle Door, Lulworth
This iconic beach welcomes dog all year-round, and is well worth a visit.
