Remote cottages to get away from it all

Whether you need some time away as a couple to rejuvenate or the whole family needs a breath of fresh air, there are plenty of cottages to choose from to get away from it all.

If you’ve had enough of turkey, wrapping paper and all things santa, it may be time for you to book a break far away from… well, everything. Our vast portfolio of properties offers plenty of choice when it comes to location. We usually talk about how easy it is to get to other places, how close it is to the local village or what you can do that’s on the doorstep. But if you want none of that, we’ve got just the ticket.

These remote cottages allow you to really escape from it all. Totally detached and enveloped in lush green countryside, you won’t want to return home after staying in these rural retreats. Some are beautiful boltholes made for couples to spend some quality time in each other’s company, whereas our slightly bigger cottages allow you to enjoy the tranquillity with family or even as a group of friends.

Whatever you choose, just know that there will be no mention of the ‘C’ word (Christmas) unless you decide to utter it from your own lips.

The Old Dairy (2395)

7 miles NW of Honiton | Sleeps 4 + cot

This is The Old Dairy. Set on the edge of a wonderful orchard with all the space you could want.

A gorgeous little barn in the heart of Devon's Blackdown Hills. The perfect countryside escape for a group of friends to meet up or a family to relax together over New Year without worrying about Christmas lights or who ate the last chocolate.

The Cabin at Wrinklers Wood (3248)

2 miles SE of St Agnes | Sleeps 2 + cot

The Cabin at Wrinklers Wood is beautifully presented.

The Cabin is an idyllic couples bolthole located down a beaten track. Although the cabin shares the grounds with the owners, it is still very private. The most exciting part of this cottage is that it sits up in the trees: an ideal way to get closer to nature, slow down and take a much-needed break.

Brookland Barn (3209)

3.8 miles S of Shaftesbury | Sleeps 4 + cot

Brookland Barn is all on one level in a tranquil setting facing south, with rural views from every window.

Described by our property manager, Amanda, as a hidden gem, Brookland Barn is in the heart of Dorset countryside. There are plenty of winter walks to enjoy nearby, including one around an iron age fort. If you'd rather stay in, the barn has a fire you can cosy up next to and a huge garden for some outdoor games with the kids. It still has Christmas availability but you'll need to book quick.

Polmina (1222)

6.2 miles W of St Ives | Sleeps 2 + cot

The cottage is set on the far west peninsula.

The epitome of remote locations. Polmina is a beautiful bolthole for couples looking for a spot to spend a little quality time together in Cornwall. Set within its own grounds with a view over the Atlantic ocean, this is the perfect romantic hideaway.
