November 2018 marketing update to owners

Hello

Greetings from the Marketing Department.

Each month we'll be letting you know what we've been doing to get you more bookings with updates on our seasonal campaigns, press coverage, email broadcasts, social media and more.

November

Well, winter is certainly here. Thick frosts have set in and the lovely smell of smoky log fires fills the air. And all the while the Classic marketing team have been working across a number of campaigns for winter and the year ahead.

Our annual calendar landed with previous Classic guests in the first week of November; celebrating and sharing our favourite breathtaking South and West landscapes throughout the year. We have received some lovely thank you notes already.

Across marketing channels we continue to focus on audience growth in preparation for the peak booking period in January and the year ahead. We have also been working on a steady stream of website design updates, from the homepage right through to checkout allowing us to constantly challenge and improve Classic’s user experience.

As Christmas fast approaches, we hope you're having fun embellishing the cottages with tinsel and trees. It should be worth your while as we've been busy filling in the last of the Christmas and New Year gaps by responding to guest feedback and introduced a 20% offer for late bookers - very often they're looking for flexible dates, so do take another look at your short break availability for the end of the year.

If we don't speak to you again beforehand, we hope this final month of the year is full of festive joy for you, your loved ones, and your guests!

Hello from your Property Manager

When subscribed to our owner marketing emails, you'll see a message from your local expert here, talking about goings-on in your area and what they're up to this month.

Emails to guests

In case you missed them here are the emails we sent to guests this month:

Don't miss out on
festive short breaks

If you only accept week-long bookings, you could be missing a trick this Christmas and New Year.

With the popularity of short breaks soaring and New Year ideally falling over a weekend this year, make sure you don’t miss out on potential bookings by checking whether you’re set up to accept short breaks this winter.

With guests willing to pay a festive premium to enjoy this magical season, either log into the owners’ website or get in touch to make sure your short break settings are as they should be.

Press alerts

We've a page on our website to help with PR enquiries and to showcase any publicity, paid for or otherwise, we've got along the way.

If you'd like your property to be considered for press trips or editorial stories, do drop me an email.

Social Media

This month we’ve been looking at networking with other accounts to attract new audiences and amplify the Classic brand, particularly on Instagram. We teamed up with Visit Isle of Wight and Visit South Devon to host Instagram takeovers on their channels for two days at a time. This resulted in an increase in followers on our Instagram account and positive feedback from the social media teams of both organisations. Moving forward, we’ve secured the same with Visit Dorset, Visit Cornwall and Visit Somerset and are really enjoying forging a stronger relationship with these area representatives.

On top of this, video has proved to be very successful this month with a live property tour and a video of stormy waves in Porthleven garnering the most interest on our Facebook feed.

We’re always looking for more videos and pictures to share with our guests so please feel free to send yours to the team, use #classiccottages online or simply tag us in your own posts on FacebookTwitter and Instagram. Thank you!

Fireworks night

After work one night, we gathered in the dark of the Leslie House gardens, hands clasped around warming mugs of mulled drinks and ate marshmallows while engaging in inter-department chit-chat. It's good to catch up with colleagues on a personal level, but also to identify better ways of working to make sure everything runs super smooth. Once the work chat died down, the fireworks went up - we hope you enjoyed Bonfire Night wherever you were.

Even once you have signed a contract and agreed an initial commission rate, this can latterly be subject to change and a number of additional services added to your account. Make sure you know which letting fees are included.
