Coping well with Covid restrictions, had great atmosphere .
A short menu, included the most delicious fish sharing platter to start, and amazing sea bream main course.
Hope they can open up again soon....

Birthday celebration!
Ten of us enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal (the smoked chicken starter was particularly good) with fantastic wines at The Holt. There were plenty of waiting staff who made us feel very welcome.
Nearby beach
A long shingle mile long beach stretching from Branscombe to Beer Head. You can walk there along the coastal path or park in the nearby car park (charges apply). There are facilities nearby and a dog exercise area.
Nearby walk
A gentle one mile circular walk around lovely woodland. If you visit in early May you will see the woodland at its very best when the bluebells are in bloom.
Nearby town
Once famous for lace-making, now renowned for its busy antiques trade. Georgian houses line the streets and give Honiton the perfect atmosphere for a spot of antique shopping.

Birthday bouquet
We needed some flowers for a birthday while in the area and found Wild and Whimsical florist in Honiton to be fantastic. While walking along the high street we were impressed with the range of shops.

A lovely walk.
This is a lovely place to visit whether you choose to pay and walk around the grounds, as we have done, or just have something to eat and browse the garden centre. The food is excellent and walks peaceful. We have never been without coming away with some plants for our garden.

A gardeners paradise
A 10 acre garden which has been lovingly created by the family of an ex-dairy farmer. The garden has lots of interest, including the Millenium garden styled around a beautiful trickling stream and a large woodland garden including some of the biggest giant rhubarb we've ever seen. There is a great little tea room serving hard earned tea and cake after you've explored the gardens. There is a nursery selling plants reared at the gardens and other garden essentials. Everything we've bought from them has thrived, so they clearly take great care in what they produce. There is a large landscaping business run by their son attached to the gardens, with further stocks of shrubs and trees to explore.
If you're an aviation fanatic, this modern coffee bar and restaurant suitated on the edge of Dunkeswell Airfield, will be right up your street! It's also popular with families as it offers a warm welcome and extensive menu with something to suit everyone. Check out their live music events and themed nights if you fancy something different.

Very impressive
As my partner is a pilot it was inevitable we would need to visit the airfield.... usually these places are quite basic and food is obligatory greasy spoon type fare....but not here in Dunkeswell! Very impressed and very helpful staff. Food great and very reasonably priced too and dogs are welcome. The location of the outdoor seating also means you get an excellent view of aircraft both landing, taking off and parking up....
You will find something for everyone here with pretty gardens to sit in and enjoy a cream tea to pick your own fruit to keep the kids occupied. The farm shop serves local produce including home made pies and of course pasties!

Brilliant local treasure!
Royal Oak serves really great home made lunches and cream teas. The farm shop is small but perfectly formed, making sure you can stock up on everything from very locally produced meat to biscuits and fruit and veg grown on site. They also do pick your own, a great way to entertain the kids.
A family run pub and restaurant which offers local ales and ciders to compliment the locally sourced menu.

Les Berry
Very nice local pub to where we were staying. Excellent food and very pleasant staff
Information to Phone ahead and book which we did was a busy night as it’s very popular, but the service was quite slow. That was the only downside. Good quality food, just slow service.

Great dog-friendly pub
A lovely pub, with friendly staff and excellent food. Generous portions. Very dog friendly. Lots of outside seating, in the warmer months. Might be best to pre-book, as can get busy.

You have to visit here !
The Masons Arms, from the outside it looks stunning, charming thatch, honey stone, you expect so much from this first impression, well we were not disappointed, inside the atmosphere is spot on, and the food, local beers and especially the service from the ever attentive staff was brilliant. Welcomes dogs too, a truly British pub experience.
Glad we are not locals, we'd be in here every day !

Great crab ploughman's!
Get there early at lunch time for a table outside in the summer. The famous crab ploughman's makes a wonderful lunch - washed down with the local Branscombe Bitter. For me the beer of the week!

Chocclate box pub in a chocolate box village
The Mason Arms is a very popular pub in the heart of Branscombe village. It has lots of nooks and crannies and plenty of eating space, although it can get extremely busy in the summer months and at bank holidays - make sure you book ahead for a table. The food is fresh, great quality and very well cooked - a surefire winner!
