Ideally positioned in the quaint and rather beautiful north Devon village of Tawstock, The Lodge offers a truly special retreat! This Grade II Listed, thatched, former Lodge house to Tawstock Manor with records dating back to the 19th Century delivers on character charm, luxury interiors and a manicured garden whilst mixing effortlessly with modern day living and being reverse level! It has been lovingly and sympathetically restored and brought back to life with results that are clear to see. The Lodge is set to become a favourite for couples or a lone adventurer and of course we would not want you to leave your four-legged friend at home.

Entering through the stable-door you will be greeted by an open plan living-room with a vaulted ceiling which will instantly reveal the true size of this tardis, styled and beautifully furnished the sitting-area also benefits from Sky TV and a log-burner for those chiller evenings! The kitchen has been designed to allow you to cook up a storm or that perfect first day breakfast, which can be enjoyed from the dining-area. The vaulted ceiling has restored beams and the room has dual-aspect windows and so is very light. Talking of windows these have been lovingly restored and add a beautiful original feature to this truly charming lodge.

On the lower ground floor you will discover the beautiful bedroom and bathroom, the exquisitely styled and furnished bedroom floods with light thanks to the feature door and a cleverly installed sky light, with a blind for those light sleepers! When it comes to a good night's sleep this sumptuous king with beautiful linens, mixed with a dose of fresh Devon air, will allow you to recharge each night ready for another day of discovering all that north Devon has to offer.

When it comes to a perfectly designed cottage garden which is lovingly maintained and looks like it's been part of The Lodge for years then this garden would win first prize at the village fair. The garden really is an extension of the house with not one seating area but three, from the verandah to the pergola you can follow the sun and really enjoy the best of the views and tranquility of village living. The Lodge also benefits from a utility-area that houses the washing machine, tumble-drier and an additional fridge/freezer.

No matter the season, this is the perfect retreat in the best location - the local pub the Chichester Arms in Bishops Tawton is just three miles away, Barnstaple a short distance and of course the wonders of the north coast and miles upon miles of coastal walks and those breathtaking beaches that the area is famed for.

When it comes to location and planning adventures you will be spoilt for choice as attractions include ferry trips to Lundy Island from Bideford Quay, the National Trust's Arlington Court, historic Clovelly which offers a time forgotten and two excellent golf courses at Saunton and Westward Ho!

Visiting Instow is a must and there is a seasonal passenger ferry which adds to the experience. Instow has a fabulous long sandy beach which is dog-friendly all year round. You can also walk, or of course cycle, along the famous Tarka Trail with a hire shop being in Barnstaple a few miles away.

Westward Ho! is an excellent day out with a sandy beach and rock pools to explore at low tide, the coastal path will take you around the headland and you can enjoy fish and chips whilst the sun sets should the mood take you.

Northam Burrows Country Park is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty; it is north of Westward Ho! at the estuary where the rivers Taw and Torridge meet. There is a magnificent stretch of grassland, salt-marsh and dunes at the mouth of the estuary, giving walkers, ramblers and naturalists the opportunity to enjoy and explore this area of north Devon, all year round!

Barnstaple enjoys a superb location at the mouth of the Taw Estuary, on the spectacular north Devon coastline between Westward Ho! and Croyde and a short drive from Exmoor National Park. Barnstaple is a busy traditional Devon coastal town with a pannier market, shops, restaurants and bars, along with two fabulous sandy beaches, which are popular with surfers and families. The town is renowned for its floral displays having won a Britain in Bloom award and flowers are found around every corner of the town in the most unusual places. Barnstaple lies at the end of the magnificent Tarka line railway journey, which takes you through the spectacular north Devon countryside of wooded river valleys, rugged moorland and a stretch of coastline, plus close by is the picture postcard coastal village of Clovelly. A combination of numerous long sandy beaches and family attractions makes Barnstaple a desirable holiday destination.
