This beautifully refurbished 17th Century cottage has been designed as a comfortable bolthole for two, a little tucked away base on the edge of beautiful Exmoor National Park.

Pitt Farm Cottage is a place for all seasons, with a patio and garden that catch the afternoon and evening sun and the valley views. The additional warmth of a wonderful wood-burner, to return to after a day out exploring, adds to the atmosphere. The gallery-style bedroom and spacious shower-room cover the whole first floor.

You can set out on foot from the cottage for lovely peaceful walks – and if you want the fun of an extra companion, the owner (who lives in the attached farmhouse), will lend you one of his lovely labradors. For even more rest and relaxation, the owner is a yoga teacher and holds a weekly class in the local village hall, which guests at Pitt Farm Cottage are very welcome to attend.

The cottage is on the edge of the small village of Skilgate so you will feel private but not isolated. It was built in the 1600s and has just been beautifully refurbished with all the modern conveniences you would expect, whilst retaining its original charm.

The cottage has its own entrance and up some steps at the rear, a lovely patio and garden where you may see the red deer in the valley below. The farmstead setting comes with a small flock of sheep, geese, a pig and a flock of chickens – you are invited to collect some eggs. Depending on when you are there, you will enjoy seeing lambs and piglets too.

The nearest little towns for shopping are Dulverton and Bampton – Dulverton is often described as the gateway to Exmoor and has a great range of independent shops, cafes and pubs for you to enjoy. Bampton is a bit smaller but has some good shops for lovely local provisions. One of the main attractions close to Skilgate is Wimbleball Lake – a place for lakeside walks or for the more energetic, a range of watersports and fishing. This is also the setting for one of the annual National Iron Man Triathlon challenges, a great spectator sport.

There is so much to do on Exmoor and staying at this cottage puts it all within easy reach.
