Warm welcome
The hospitality we received at the Junction Inn was second only to the food. The portions were huge and the tastes were divine. The menu is huge for a relatively small village pub. After a selection of starters we had the venison burger, the steak, ale and mushroom pie and the smothered chicken. Unfortunately we had no space left for desert. Well worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Fantastic roast dinner
Called in here Sunday 10 as close to where we were staying. They managed to fit us in and served us one of the best roast dinners we have had in a long time. Thoroughly recommend.

Summerleaze Beach in Bude is a wide sandy beach well-known for its river and large sea pool. Part natural part man-made, the seal pool was originally opened in 1930 and is replenished with fresh water at each high tide. Great for families, Summerleaze Beach offers plenty of space and is lifeguarded throughout the summer.

We were keen to explore this area being near to our cottage, but local signage was not apparent.

Set on the Tarka Trail just north of Okehampton, Dartmoor, bury yourself in the local way of life by staying in a quaint little Devon town. And by little we mean the smallest town in Devon. But don't worry, it's got three pubs.

Set deep in the north Devon countryside, The Rosemoor estate was once the home of Lady Anne Palmer. Lady Anne developed a passion for plants when she met noted plantsman Colllingwood Ingram while recuperating from measles in Spain. Over the next 30 years, she travelled the world to collect specimens for her garden, which she gave to the Royal Horticultural Society in 1988. The estate now comprises 65 acres of land, which includes rose gardens, a winter garden, a fruit and vegetable garden, a formal garden, woodlands, and many stream and lakeside plantings, making Rosemoor an enchanting place to visit whatever the season.

An exceptional day out if you love nature and gardens. We were lucky our visit coincided with the Festival of Apples in October. Beautiful place and everything offered is of the highest standard.

Fanstastic
Spent the best part of the day exploring the walks around the estate and through the fabulous formal and informal gardens, plenty of seating in the grounds to appreciate the flowers, plants and trees, choice of refreshment options from snacks to restaurant, a very good shop and parking very easy, worth the effort to visit.

Gorgeous day out
As an RHS member and regular visit to Hyde Hall I’ve been keen to visit the other gardens so when on holiday nearby, a visit to Rosemoor was a must. It is truly fabulous, we visited on a beautiful, sunny, summer day so we saw it at it’s best but I can see how there is interest whatever time of year you visit.
The staff are friendly and we received a great welcome and explanation of the layout when we arrived, such a lovely touch.
The garden is split into two parts, Lady Anne’s garden which has beautiful trees and planting best seen at a gentle stroll and the more formal gardens laid our directly near the entrance which are also stunning. The cool garden was gorgeous especially on a hot day.

Roses Galore!
The rose collection - one of the largest in the West Country - is very impressive. In full bloom in the summer, the scent of over 2,000 flowers is quite sensational. The Rose Weekend, held in June, was very informative, with advice on growing your own, as well as walks and activities for children.
This fun day out gives you the opportunity to learn the art of archery. Then put your newly taught skill to the test on dinosaurs, wolves and armoured knights! Much more than just target shooting.

Fantastic Family Fun!
Dragon Archery is the place to be if you want to try archery for the first time or if you are more experienced. Great challenges suitable for all ages from 8+. Really friendly encouraging team giving one to one coaching to help you get the most out of your experience. Suitable for all weathers...we went on a very wet and windy day in October! Only advice is BOOK EARLY as this attraction is very very popular!! If you are lucky enough to go along, you will see why.

A 3 hour archery session which involves shooting dinosaurs, amongst other things not just targets. I thoroughly enjoyed this and I wasn't expecting to. All equipment was supplied, and we were taught very well how to use it. Rather than just having targets to aim at, there are a number of themed areas including dinosaurs and orcs. The time passed very quickly and owners were very friendly and helpful.
Set in the Torridge Valley this atmospheric pub offers a wide ranging menu and is well placed for great outdoor activities such as walking, cycling, horse riding and fishing.

Fabulous meal!
We had a fabulous meal! I had a spinach and chick pea curry and my husband had a burger. Both meals were fabulous, the children loved the kids menu and we all devoured our desserts!! Such a pretty village, we felt very COVID secure and wished we had time to come back again for another meal. We'll definitely be back again when we're in the area.

Excellent for lunches. Also good walking in the vicinity.
Visit this unspoiled beach and fall in love with the breathtaking views. If you head to Northcott Mouth Beach at low tide you may be able to see the remnants of the steamship ‘Belem’ which ran aground here in 1917. At high tide, you can take in the stunning panoramas from the clifftops surrounding the beach. A secluded haven as it is, there are no facilities nearby.

Amazing beach!
Amazing dog friendly beach. Very clean and scenery amazing. Lifeguards present so makes you feel safe. There is the Rustic Tearooms nearby serving hot food and drinks. Only problem , no toilets!

Excellent beach
A wonderful beach and much quieter than Bude. An added bonus is the Rustic Tea Garden which is a lovely cafe just behind the beach. You can eat in their lovely garden or take away back to the beach. Great hot dogs, jacket potatoes and very yummy cakes.
The old railway track that runs between Halwill Junction and Cookworthy Forest has been turned into a cycle path and nature reserve.
