If you are looking for a beautifully unique and special property for a perfect Dorset holiday then look no further than The Old Mill. Formerly a working mill, this gorgeous property has been superbly renovated by the owners who have cleverly incorporated all the original mill features into what is now a luxurious, modern retreat.

Entering on the first floor, you will step into a spacious living-room which is a fantastic space to kick back and relax in to your holiday (take a look at the original mill stone embedded in to the flooring - just fabulous!). Just off the living-room is a secluded balcony that looks out over the south-facing expanse of garden; this is the perfect spot to enjoy a glass of something chilled on a summer's evening. Meander your way down the very special hand-made oak staircase to the sociable kitchen/dining-room; a great space to cook up a feast. Equipped to the highest standard, the kitchen will leave even the most discerning chefs wanting for nothing more.

Two stylish bedrooms, both with their own en suite, occupy the second floor and you are assured of the utmost comfort with soft linens and plush bedding. The wooden beams are beautiful and full of character, (please mind your head as they do slope). You'll do well to find bedrooms that marry together original features with modern styling so effortlessly.

As well as the balcony, there is ample outside garden space for you to relax in or fire up the barbecue and dine al fresco. You'll be hard pressed to hear anything in this secluded location, apart from the birdsong and snuffling of local wildlife. The owners also have some very friendly sheep close by, who are sure to offer the odd 'baa', reminding you of the beautiful countryside setting you are in. Your four-legged friend is most welcome at The Old Mill, however please ensure it is on the lead near the sheep and note the garden is not enclosed, instead a large open space that you are welcome to explore. Also situated in the grounds but totally private is La Cabin Francaise (4726), a secluded shepherd's hut for a couple. The welcoming owners live close by but you can be confident in having the utmost privacy.

The local village of Cattistock has a great local pub and village stores, so you don't need to wander far in search of your favourite tipple or morning paper. Cattistock is also famous for supposedly being the birthplace of Dorset Knob Throwing - we can see you're intrigued! The Dorset Knob is a locally made biscuit that also serves as a good hurling missile and Cattistock hosts the world-famous annual throwing festival every year in May - a sight not to be missed!

A short drive south is the county town of Dorchester, which still has a weekly market and boasts infamous Thomas Hardy history. For a culinary treat, head to Summer Lodge in nearby Evershot; a rural fine-dining gem. A holiday to Dorset is of course not complete without a trip to the World Heritage Jurassic Coast; a 30 minute drive will take you to the pretty coastal villages of Abbotsbury, Burton Bradstock and West Bay. Inland, the Jacobean Manor of Mapperton House is a beautiful spot to spend the afternoon.
