French doors open onto the wide terrace that runs along the entire length of this single-storey detached barn, perfect for an early morning cuppa, breakfast, or why not stay all day and appreciate the stunning location.

Enjoy beautiful sunsets across the valley or light the wood-burner for a cosy evening watching the flames dance. Snuggled into the hillside, Larch Barn is in the grounds of the owner's listed cottage, where you will often see deer and hear buzzards, pheasants and owls call. If you can tear yourself away from the peace and quiet, you are surrounded by wonderful places to visit. Regency Sidmouth has a beautiful seafront, magnificent red cliffs and lots of independent shops, tea shops, restaurants and pubs. The Cathedral City of Exeter is just a short drive away; here you can explore 2000 years of history, with Roman walls, underground passages, the historic quayside and great shopping. If you are feeling energetic the Exe Estuary Trail can be enjoyed on foot or with your bicycle, a 26 mile flat route which links Exmouth, Exeter and Dawlish, with some fabulous views along the way.

Heading east from Larch Barn, you can discover more of this beautiful part of east Devon; Branscombe, with the fabulous Sea Shanty beach cafe and the Mason's Arms, or visit Beer village with lots of charm, fresh fish from the beachside shop and summer boat hire if you wish to take to the water. Seaton tramway is well worth a visit, it leaves Seaton and travels the Axe estuary through wetlands teeming with bird and insect life, to inland historic Colyton.

Further east you can book into River Cottage HQ for a cookery course or indulgent meal or hop over the border into Dorset and visit Lyme Regis. Famous for its iconic Cobb, Lyme is lively all year round, with great restaurants and cafes, a sandy beach, and dinosaur and fossil museums to keep you there all day.

Larch Barn is not far from The Donkey Sanctuary at Salcombe Regis, offering free admission and the opportunity to see hundreds of rescued donkeys and mules on this scenic working farm.
