The Old Barn at Cherry May Farm, on the edge of the unique Somerset Levels, is a winner of the West Somerset Council 'Excellence in Building Awards' that embraces the very best aspects of 21st Century living, with its eco-friendly design, spacious style and fabulous facilities that really make it an exceptional place to stay.

The single-storey accommodation has a large open plan sitting-room with a luxury kitchen at one end, a wood-burner and exposed beams – and for that extra comfort, luxury throws on the deep comfortable sofas, with an adjustable overhead reading light. Bi-fold doors bring in all the fresh air you could need but air conditioning is also available in this open plan living area, should you want to use this on hot summer days. The whole of the side of the barn opens onto the large, level enclosed garden, which has uninterrupted countryside views.

The main bedroom has a jacuzzi/jet spa bath and the second bedroom, which can be made up as a double or as singles, has a power shower. The whole building benefits from under-floor heating from the air-source heat pump, with the wood-burning stove for that wonderful rural character.

Facilities include a Bluetooth wireless Bose speaker system (for those wishing to connect to their smartphones or to use Spotify or similar, to play music), mains chargers for smartphones (IOS and Android), Smart TVs, an Xbox, Pure DAB radios in the sitting-room and both bedrooms and even a professional telescope, for those amateur astronomers wishing to benefit from the celebrated dark skies here!

Outside there is a hot tub, a sauna, a large level garden and a tiled lockable outhouse, suitable for storing bikes and walking equipment and within which is a full-sized ironing board and rotating washing line. There is automated lighting in the covered parking-area, to guide you in after an evening meal out at one of the pubs or restaurants that you will find recommended in the Cottage Information Folder.

Ramped access and level accommodation will appeal to those with limited mobility.

With easy access to the M5 for exploring the beautiful Somerset Levels, the Mendip and Quantock Hills, Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, Cheddar, Wells, Taunton, Weston-Super-Mare and the coast, The Old Barn is ideally situated for exploring the area and for keen walkers and cyclists, with nearby Brent Knoll and Brean Down both offering spectacular views across the Bristol Channel. Somerset's famous peat moor and stunning wetlands, a must for ornithologists, are also within easy cycling distance.

An international golf course, driving range, indoor water-park and speedway track are all activities on your doorstep. For the very energetic, Cheddar Gorge is only a short drive away and offers clifftop walking, climbing, caving and potholing opportunities, for those with experience.

There are a number of excellent country pubs, carveries and restaurants all within a 10 minute drive and local towns such as Burnham-on-Sea and Wedmore, have a range of interesting shops for those holiday treats. There are also two local award-winning farm shops within easy reach.
