Offering a 20% discount for parties of 2 (unless a special offer is already in place), this pretty cottage is situated on the eastern edge of Exmoor National Park, which can make it a shorter, easier journey to travel to, for many. Only a few miles from the market towns of Dulverton and Bampton, with each offering lovely independent shops and cafes, it is a wonderful opportunity to stay in a delightful, traditional country cottage.

There is a large, completely private and enclosed, classic cottage garden for summer days and a lovely wood-burner in the sitting-room for winter breaks, making this the perfect year-round place to stay.

Semi-detached but extremely private, Cleveland Cottage is a much loved bolthole and you will feel very much at home here. There are plenty of original period features – beams, a couple of low lintels and turning cottage stairs – all adding to its warm and welcoming character.

This is a very comfortable retreat to return to after a day exploring the National Park, the Quantock Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or the beautiful Vale of Taunton.

The area is perfect for those wishing for peace and quiet – Skilgate is a small village surrounded by farmland and the cottage is in an 'edge of village' setting and therefore feels very private. The patio and garden are not overlooked, as they are raised up above the level of the little country lane that leads out of the village towards Wimbleball Lake – a beautiful and scenic local landmark. There is a door directly from the sitting-room to the garden, so that on a sunny day you can step outside to the sheltered patio.

The delight of Exmoor is the variety on offer – from wild open high ground to deeply wooded valleys, riverside picnic areas for relaxing summer days – try Tarr Steps, Withypool or Landacre – and plenty of traditional country pubs for lazy pub lunches in the summer or hearty hot meals out-of-season. Exmoor is famous for its many walking routes and footpaths to follow, some leading directly from the village and so, armed with an Ordnance Survey map, you can really get off the beaten track and take in the landscape.

Nearby Wimbleball Lake is a lovely place for a lakeside walk or even for some water-sports if you are feeling adventurous. There is a little cafe there for a treat afterwards.
