With a most enviable location right on the water's edge offering breathtaking views over Plymouth Sound, The Song of the Sea is a delightful waterside apartment in the historic Fort Picklecombe and is just the tonic for those looking for a terrific little bolthole for two in a very special location.

Located in the Rame peninsula, where lush undulating countryside meets the staggering beauty of the coast, you are sure to spend many an hour simply gazing out to sea, but if you can drag yourself away for the day, there is a whole host of delights waiting to be discovered in this beautiful part of the county.

This open plan apartment is aptly-named; with large windows opening out to the balcony, only yards from the water's edge, the song of the sea is always in the background.

A lift from the underground car park leads up to this first floor apartment, which has wonderful views even from the galley kitchen and the bedroom-area (two steps up from the living area) so you can even gaze out to the sea from the bed – it will make it very difficult to get out of bed in the morning!

Built in 1860 as part of the harbour defences, the Fort has been renovated into beautiful apartments with fabulous communal gardens, a private harbour and a little sandy beach to boot. The grounds are bounded by the 850 acres of Mount Edgcumbe Country Park which has a historic house, Grade I listed garden and some wonderful walks to explore.

The twin villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, with their colour-washed cottages, beaches, shops and an abundance of pubs and cafes are easily accessible along the cliff footpath, boasting fabulous views of the bay en route. If you fancy some historic grandeur why not visit the historic houses and gardens at Antony (National Trust) and Port Eliot, or for a taste of city life, hop on the ferry across the Sound to the Maritime city of Plymouth.
