If you go down to the woods today, you're sure of a big surprise…because nestling on the edge is this little beauty offering the ultimate escape to the country. With forest walks, panoramic views of distant sea views, wildlife galore, a lovely local village and coastal adventures all nearby, Squirrel Nutkin is the perfect place to appreciate the natural world.

Whilst lounging on the deck, cooking holiday treats on the barbecue or even soaking in the hot tub (of course there's a hot tub!), drink in the most breathtaking views that stretch out across the open countryside to the south Cornish coast in the distance, beautifully interrupted every now and then by the odd rabbit, deer, or bird and, of course, Squirrel Nutkin and his family may well make an appearance too. This really is all about getting close to nature; you will truly feel as if you are in a Beatrix Potter story. Peek carefully through the curtains in the morning in the hope of spotting timid roe deer on the forest fringes where birdsong is abundant from the backdrop of fir trees, a heart-warming soundtrack to your time away.

Inside, you'll find a space of cool, natural comfort; from the king-sized bed dressed in fresh linens where you can lie back and enjoy the view, to the stylish shower-room with motion sensor backlit mirror; from serving up holiday breakfasts in the modern kitchen-area to snuggling up on the sofa with the wood-burner roaring - this is a perfect retreat for summer, autumn, winter and spring watch!

Squirrel Nutkin shares this special setting, within 30 acres of woodland, with Foxy Loxy, ideal if you have friends who want to join, but is set away down under the trees to ensure that you enjoy your privacy.

At some point, venturing out from your woodland home will probably cross your mind and you are in a great location. Enjoy countryside walks that start right from your doorstep and, if cooking isn't for you, a path leads you into the village where the local pub serves up some good old Cornish hospitality. The trendy sailing town of Fowey is only a short drive away - here you can watch the antics of the water, join a boat trip, wander the stylish shops and galleries or indulge in one of the many pubs, cafes and restaurants.

Further along the coast you will discover historic Charlestown, with its ancient harbour and famous old ships, and gardeners will love the nearby Lost Gardens of Heligan, Eden Project and the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, which not only sells a first-class selection of plants but has an award-winning cafe as well, serving delicious locally-sourced food. If you want more adventures in the woods - this time on two wheels - there are a network of cycling trails at Cardinham Woods and Lanhydrock and, on your way back, stop off at the local town of Lostwithiel to stock up on some provisions, perhaps having a quick peep in one of the many antique shops or take time to conquer the Norman castle!

The owners run a boarding cattery, and if you would like some more details, please do not hesitate to contact our booking office.
