DoubleThe location high above the Axe Valley as it heads to the Jurassic Coast just a few miles away could not be more magical. Easy to reach, yet off the beaten track for the last adventurous mile, classic Devon hedgerows, majestic trees and then a sweep of meadow grazed by the Wykeleigh herd – all the perfect complement to a traditional Shepherd's Hut.
Stargazy Sky Shepherd's Hut is in its very own meadow, within the owners' grounds, with a copse of mature trees to one side, fields stretching downhill in front and even a tiny brook close by. This sort of tranquility is so rare these days and you will relax the moment you arrive.
The bespoke hut has a wood-burning stove inside for evenings feeling snug and a fire-pit outside for romantic evenings beneath a star studded sky. There is a lovely comfortable bed with a fully sprung mattress and top quality bed linens, a proper hot shower and all the kitchen and cooking facilities you will need for your luxury glamping experience.
Wake up bright and early and brave the unique outside spring-fed cold shower! Put on the coffee pot and listen to the sounds of the countryside. Head off on foot, the farmland here borders the wonderful Trinity Hill nature reserve, and it's just a short walk to the inspirational River Cottage where you could try out one of their Saturday lunches or monthly seasonal treats or head to the 300 acre organic Trill Farm, and then stroll back through the beautiful landscape to your perfect bolthole. In season, the owner can offer barbecue packs of their own beef or pork, and fruit, vegetables and eggs when available too.
If you can tear yourselves away, Lyme Regis is a just a five mile drive and along the coast to the east, Seaton's pebbled beach is the nearest and stretching to the west along the east Devon coast, you will find a chain of wonderfully classic seaside villages and towns – Beer, Branscombe, Sidmouth and Budleigh Salterton.

A baby under the age of 12 months in a Moses basket is welcome, however there is unfortunately not enough room for a travel cot in the shepherd's hut and therefore it cannot accommodate 2 adults plus a baby over the age of 12 months (although a single adult is welcome to stay with a baby/child over this age, if they are happy to share the double bed). *A cot is not provided, please bring your own Moses basket.
