KingBoscastle needs little introduction, its picturesque harbour being a well-known Cornish landmark.
A mere two minute stroll back from the fishing boats, tucked below the harbour wall is Captain’s Retreat, an early 19th Century three-storey terraced property. There is a stylish sitting-room, a well-equipped kitchen/diner and comfortable beds – so sit well, eat well and sleep well! Perched up above the Valency stream, the house has a tiny rear courtyard and is the perfect retreat after a day of exploring.
If you don’t feel like cooking, there are numerous great places to eat in this area, and after the holiday excesses, the coastal path is right there, so remember to bring your walking boots – and the dog!
Now renowned for excellent eateries, north Cornwall has become a bit of a foodie heaven. A short but steep stroll along the coastal path, which is almost on the doorstep, you can have breakfast or lunch at Boscastle Farm Shop. Port Isaac boasts a couple of good restaurants, and a visit to Padstow is a must as you have the choice of Rick Stein’s restaurants and the Michelin starred No 6.
