Sparrow's Nest

If you were looking for cottages like Sparrow's Nest, how about trying these:

Shaldon is a lovely village lining the banks of the River Teign with its own small sandy beach. Just a half-mile from the hub of the village itself, a conservation area, is a small lane running down to the estuary; the last of its seven houses is thatched Sparrow's Nest. This wonderfully positioned detached house has a glass conservatory forming part of the estuary wall, and a large enclosed garden with a table and chairs and gated access to the foreshore.

The owner has worked wonders with this chocolate-box property, which is traditionally furnished yet bright and uncluttered. Several rooms have water views, including both double bedrooms and, of course, the fantastic conservatory right at the water's edge, which has comfortable seating and a dining-table and chairs so you can make the most of the fabulous views over the water. The kitchen has everything you could need to make meal times easy and enjoyable, with a range cooker, a microwave (the Aga is ornamental), a large American-style fridge/freezer and a coffee machine. The luxurious feel is extended through to the super comfy sitting-room, perfect for relaxing after a long day.

If you have a small boat there is even a slipway at the end of the lane. So come down to this unique house (to quote the locals) in 'possibly the best position in Shaldon'!
