In a fabulous location, just a stone's throw from the glorious North Devon Heritage Coast and offering guests the joy of their very own private indoor swimming pool, Horseshoe Cottage is the quintessential holiday home and has a lovely cobbled path, perfect for extended family or a group of friends. Situated on a small development this beautiful barn conversion, with the added benefit of a games-room, has everything you will need for fun-packed holidays, and even your four-legged friend will be made very welcome.

From the moment you step over the threshold you will fall in love with this gorgeous barn, from the fabulous indoor heated pool that is sure to delight old and young through to the fun-filled games-room for that all important family competitive fun around the table football. The hall leads to the fully equipped kitchen which has everything you will need to create a holiday feast. Step down three steps into the sitting/dining-room where the clan can gather to plan the day ahead and enjoy the view of the pool through the full-length windows. The owners have thought of everything and there is even a breakfast counter with a second fridge and drink-making station, so you can relax and chat over a freshly brewed coffee whilst the more energetic members of the party practice their lengths! The fabulous wood-burner is purely ornamental but, with full central heating you will be warm and cosy here at any time of year.

Down a further three steps at the end of the hall on the ground floor you will find two pretty bedrooms. The first is a lovely twin-bedded room, decorated in relaxing pastel shades and with sumptuous beds and luxury linens for that all important good night's sleep. The second bedroom has 'zip and link' beds, which can be configured as either twin beds or a fabulous super-king. This room is beautifully styled and has a reading nook with comfy velvet chair, the ideal place for a quiet holiday read.

From the hall, stairs lead to the first floor with characterful beams and sloping ceilings under the eaves (please take care with the sloping ceilings). The main sitting-room at the far end gives a nod to the creative talents of the owners, with super comfy sofas, bean bags for the youngsters and a Smart TV offering endless entertainment after a day out exploring north Devon. There is access to the outside from this room via granite steps, one of many lovely original features, but do take care on the steps. Along the corridor you will find bedroom three, a lovely twin-bedded room with the added benefit of an en suite shower-room and last but by no means least, delightful bedroom four which has a king-size bed and another en suite shower-room. All the rooms on this floor are light and airy thanks to the Velux windows throughout.

With three lovely outside areas, you will be spoilt for choice when it comes to where to sit and enjoy your morning coffee in the sun. To the front there is a pretty garden with a patio, chairs and table for a morning coffee or to rest before your day out, whilst to the rear of the cottage you'll find a table and chairs with a barbecue, perfect for al fresco dining after a day of exploring. You can also enjoy the lovely garden space with barbecue that is situated across the courtyard and up some steps (please take care); the beauty of this garden being the kids and dogs can play freely and on a clear sunny day, from the carefully positioned picnic tables at the top of the garden, you might spot Lundy Island! During the winter months the barbecues are stored in the garden shed.

Horseshoe Cottage is situated in beautiful countryside, where you can listen to birdsong and really escape the hustle and bustle. There will be the occasional horse rider or tractor using the country lane next to the cottage but that just adds to the charm of the place. It really is a wonderful holiday getaway.

North Devon boasts the most beautiful seascapes and countryside with hidden coves, sandy beaches and rolling landscapes just waiting to be discovered. Hartland Point is a short drive away with its iconic white lighthouse and Hartland Abbey, famous as a backdrop for many period dramas.

One of the best local inns is The Farmers Arms in the heart of Woolsery village, and you'll also find a convenient fish and chip shop here. Take a boat trip to Lundy Island from Bideford Quay, a bird spotter's paradise, or perhaps a visit to Bude is in order, where the beaches are stunning. Westward Ho! has a mile of flat sandy beach at low tide and you can book surf lessons here, or maybe take a dip in the tidal pool, great fun for all the family. The twin villages of Instow and Appledore should be on your 'to do' list and you can catch the passenger ferry between the two.

Wherever you are exploring take time to shop locally at roadside stalls and farm shops. North Devon is famed for its fresh produce and this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy some local fayre. Once discovered, north Devon will become your favourite getaway destination!
