Zip and linkAn utterly gorgeous, fairy-tale thatched cottage tucked away down a peaceful lane on the outskirts of the river port town of Barnstaple. Dating back to the 16th Century, the cottage oozes magical charm and plenty of character, the perfect home to be enjoyed by all the family and your four-legged friends. Having been lovingly refurbished by the owners, a blissfully calm home-from-home has been created with lots of beautiful touches throughout.
As you step over the threshold, you will enter the beautiful, beamed dining-room with a feature ornamental inglenook fireplace and a gorgeous parquet floor. The dining-table is a sociable spot for the family to come together and reminisce about the day's adventures while the fully fitted kitchen is a wonderful area for cooking up a holiday feast. There is also a handy utility area which is accessed via steps and houses the fridge/freezer. The dining-room leads off to a shower-room and the glorious double aspect sitting-room has sumptuous sofas, perfect for sinking into at the end of the day. Light up the log-burner and simply relax! The patio doors lead out to the spacious outdoor area, a lovely spot for relaxing and soaking up the sunshine. A few steps lead to the lower patio area with a table and chairs for al fresco dining on a sunny day.
Upstairs, you will find three gorgeous bedrooms. The main bedroom is decorated in calming tones making it a tranquil place for a restful night's sleep with a luxurious king-size double bed. The other two bedrooms are simply lovely; bedroom two has a comfy double bed and bedroom three is a very pretty room with a 'zip and link' bed so it can either be a king-size double or twin beds, you choose! The family bathroom has a gorgeous roll-top bath ideal for a blissful soak after a day of exploring.
There is plenty to see and do in this area of north Devon. Hop in the car to discover the glorious north Devon beaches and miles of coastal walks. If you are feeling energetic, head out for a walk, cycle along the famous Tarka Trail or explore Exmoor National Park, lace up your walking shoes and discover the beautiful, unspoilt countryside. For a slice of the coast, enjoy a ferry trip to Lundy Island from nearby Bideford Quay. A little further afield there are numerous popular coastal towns to explore - Instow, Appledore, Braunton Burrows, Croyde and Woolacombe. And don't forget to pay a visit to the charming, historic village of Clovelly for a special day out.
