The location of this dreamy hideaway is second to none and will truly take your breath away. Taking pride of place in a small complex of similar barns, this semi-detached, reversed level retreat is the ideal place to spend quality time with your family and friends. Furnished beautifully, the onsite owner has created a wonderful haven with a mix of vintage and contemporary pieces which complement one another perfectly. Step into the open plan living/kitchen/dining-area and you will realise instantly that this barn has been designed to make the most of the view, with three large windows, all with built-in window seats; so don't forget your binoculars.

There's plenty of outside space with a large lawn perfect for family games with views down to the Camel Estuary, a patio table and benches for a spot of al fresco dining, and barbecue and chairs if you fancy just lazing away a sunny afternoon. Granite steps (seven rather steep ones) take you up to a more elevated seating-area, which we think is the perfect spot for a quiet morning coffee watching and listening to the birds, and also enjoying the fabulous view.

Carthew Barn is perfectly located to experience Cornwall's foodie hot spot Padstow - with so many delicious restaurants, bistro cafes and pubs you will be spoilt for choice. An afternoon in Padstow wouldn't be complete without a Cornish cream tea and a real favourite (and a local secret) is the Rest a While tea garden, a cute little tea shop at Hawkers Cove on the South West Coast Path - the views of the Camel Estuary are breathtaking. For a more 'fine dining' experience, a trip to the exquisite Rick Stein's seafood restaurant is a must - naturally it's very popular, especially in the summer months, so be sure to make a reservation in advance to avoid any disappointment.
Nearby, The Pig at Harlyn Bay, with its dedication to delicious local produce, is a fantastic choice for a lazy lunch in the sunshine. And afterwards, you can wander down to beautiful Harlyn Bay beach to dip your toes in the sea, get lost in a good book, or explore the iconic coastal path. A short walk will take you to the breathtaking Mother Ivey's Bay - where you'll be greeted by unbelievably blue waters and a stretch of golden sand. If water sports are your thing, you're in luck. You'll find an excellent selection of water sport providers within the area, perfect for spending unforgettable afternoons paddle boarding, surfing, kayaking, coasteering or wakeboarding. Phew!
If beach days are on the agenda then there is so much choice with Polzeath, Harlyn Bay, Daymer Bay and Rock all about 20 minutes by car. For gardening enthusiasts, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project are both a short drive away and if you feel like stepping back in time and appreciating a slice of history then the historic houses of Pencarrow and Lanhydrock are within easy reach.
