Surrounded by the unspoilt rural landscape of north Devon and just 10 miles inland from the dramatic coastline with its long sandy beaches and rugged cliffs, The Cottage could not be in a more tranquil location. This lovely detached stone property has a fully enclosed garden which is perfect for al fresco dining.

The accommodation offers a cosy traditional beamed sitting-room with an inglenook fireplace and wood-burning stove – making this an excellent place to choose whatever the time of year – a separate dining-room in addition to the table in the kitchen, a very well-equipped kitchen with a warming farmhouse-style Rayburn cooker and a further kitchen/utility-area.

The four bedrooms are off a spacious landing and share a very large family bathroom on the first floor as well as a convenient shower-room on the ground floor. Two of the bedrooms have double beds (one a king-size), one has twin beds and there is also a small single room which is ideal for a child (although the standard three-foot bed is fine for an adult too).

Outside, there is a games-room in one of the outbuildings offering table-football and darts, and even has a drinks fridge. There is a summer-house, barbecue and plenty of garden furniture so that you can make the most of this lovely setting and have evening drinks looking across the fields and along the valley. Private off-road parking is in the driveway, the entrance to which has a five-bar wooden gate so this area is also safely enclosed.

North Devon is an easy county to get to but once there you will realise how much space there is. This largely agricultural landscape is criss-crossed with footpaths and tiny country lanes for walkers to enjoy.

The historic market towns in this area include Bideford, Torrington and South Molton. The coast stretches from the border with Cornwall beyond Hartland Point, right across to Somerset where Exmoor National Park meets the sea in truly dramatic style.

Nearby there are a chain of little coastal villages such as Clovelly, Westward Ho!, Appledore and Instow – Instow has a sandy dog-friendly beach all year round. There is something for all here, whether it be walking the coastal path, surfing, or a boat trip to the wildlife reserve at Lundy Island from the quay in Bideford.

You are welcome to bring several well-behaved dogs to this property – do feel free to ask us. There are two dog crates on site available for use and two dogs go free.
