The Mouse House perches high above the River Exe, in a breathtaking hilltop position with spectacular panoramic views across the Devon countryside on the fringes of Exmoor National Park.

This very comfortable and peaceful cottage has a huge garden exclusively for its guests, with wonderful mature trees and views for miles. The little country lane leads up to the village of Stoodleigh and the local pub, or down through a steep wooded valley to the River Exe. At the bottom of the garden, a beautiful summer-house celebrates these unique surroundings and is the perfect place to sit in the early morning or evening to watch the wild deer as they come out to graze.

This cottage is snug and cosy all year round, with two bedrooms offering flexibility for two guests. There is a dual-aspect double bedroom with an en suite bathroom on the first floor – incredible views to wake up to in the morning - and the single bedroom with adjacent wet-room is on the ground floor. The rest of the ground floor is set out as an open plan living-room with kitchen and dining-area.

One of the best things about this location is that it is easy to get to from the main routes into Devon, is a short scenic drive to the wilds of Exmoor National Park and is equidistant between the east and north Devon coasts.

The owners live on site but The Mouse House and its gardens – facing away from their home – are not overlooked and are very private so you will have all the peace and quiet you would expect in such a tranquil setting.

The little market town of Bampton and all its amenities and choice of cafes is just three miles away – very convenient for some lovely local produce. A little further away is the wonderful market town of Dulverton – perfectly named as the 'Gateway to Exmoor' and definitely a lovely place to visit for a day out. Tiverton is the closest larger town and on its outskirts you have the National Trust's Knightshayes Court, with fabulous gardens to stroll in as well as the Grand Western Canal's tow paths to walk along.
