Perranporth Boating Lake and Surrounds (0.7 miles)

The boating lake, with swans, cygnets, ducks and ducklings to feed, sits in a newly-renovated park next to the Bowling Club (open to non members), playing field, tennis courts, children's playarea and the Railway Walk in memorial to Donald Healey (famous for the Austin Healey and Sprite sports cars).

St Piran's Day (0.9 miles)

The National Day of Cornwall began life as a day off for tin-miners (Picrous Day and Chewidden Day crop up near Christmas). On the dunes at Perranporth where the Cornish saint washed ashore, hundreds dress in black and white and drum up Perrantide, which involves eating and drinking like Vikings, albeit cheery ones.
